ENNUI
Augmented Reality, 2022

ENNUI, Augmented Reality, 48Hr Neukolln Festival, 2022

Ennui is an augmented reality experience that features two animated characters sit top of a structure, and observe the scene with slow indefinite, meditative gestures. They are not active nor passive, they are silent, in a state of ennui. The installation seeks to remind the exhaustion and the fatigue caused by an incessant compulsion to perform and the suffering from lethargy and ennui.

ENNUI, Augmented Reality, 48Hr Neukolln Festival, 2022

Ennui is featured at the 48hr Neukolln Festival between 23-25 June 2022. The Augmented reality experience features two digital figures sitting on an abandoned gas station in the Hermannplatz region.  The project was one of the first artwork implementations of using AR Core geospatial localization in Germany. With the technical help of Florian Weinrich from DARV Workshop,  we located the 3D characters to the exact location and orientation in the context of the real world without having to scan the physical space. In this way, users were able to see the content just by pointing to their cameras.
